Thank you to everyone for their contributions to the fall season.  While some days drag by, it's hard to believe seven months have come and gone, and the season is complete.

As an organization, we are extremely proud of the progress all of the players made this season.  Both Coach Tim and Coach Ed spoke yesterday about the positive changes they witnessed from the beginning of the season to the State play offs.  We could not agree more.  Most often we all look to the scoreboard to determine our wins and losses.  Yesterday our coaches spent a lot of time describing to the organization how each of our players won this season.  I don't want to be cliche, or act like game wins don't make a difference either, but we do feel as though no player walked away empty handed.

Thank you to the parents that forever support their players and in turn our program.  We appreciate all the things you do; driving, skate sharpening, cheering, waiting, fighting to get your boys out of bed for school after late nights of hockey, donating your time and items during team sponsored events, providing feedback and driving home with stinky gear (and/or boys).

RJ Dusak spent a lot of time scheduling practices, games and off ice conditioning.  Some days of scheduling include constant phone calls and emails.  Other days RJ would end his work day in Milwaukee and drive to AHAI meetings in Bensenville, only to drive back home to Wisconsin at the end of the night.  None of that takes into account the time consumed to support the coaches, players and the board initiatives.  Thank you.  We are grateful for your contributions.

Our coaching staff takes a ton of abuse from all sides, and they do it all for the love of hockey and very little pay.  Thank you to Coach Ed and Coach Tim for the time they put into planning rosters, team meetings, team building events, answering player questions, parent questions, questions from the board, building practice plans, awareness of our organization and confidence in their players.  They do all of this while they hold full time jobs and tend to family matters.  Really, they are paid a pittance for all the work they do.

Of course, our coaches get support from their great assistants too.  Coach Ed had the help of Chris Homerin, RJ Dusak and Anthony Conn this year.  Nick Cosmano pledged his support for Coach Tim, and stuck with it all, even as he welcomed baby Liam into his family.  We will all forever remember Mike Beranek's contributions to our club.  We were lucky to have him as a part of the coaching staff.  Thank you for the time all of you invested.

Also, a quick note of gratitude to the wives of our coaches and staff. While our coaches are spending their time planning and/or are at the rink, their wives are picking up the pieces at home so they can dedicate their time to our club.

Thanks to my fellow board members for your commitment to continuing the growth and improvement of our program.  The continued involvement from the parents of our players will ensure we keep growing and get better at what we do as an organization.  For an organization still in its infancy, there is no shortage of things to do, and the work put in to creating a sound structure is very much appreciated.

Most of all, a big thanks to our players.  Thank you for giving us a reason to be an organization.  Thank you for never giving up, whether it was for yourself or for your team mates.  For those that are graduating this year, the organization wishes you the best of luck in your next endeavors.  Please keep in touch and come see the Lakers' games.  For those still eligible to play with us in the fall, we will be diligently working to improve our program.  We want to make your time on the ice as a representative of your high school and Lakers Hockey as rewarding as possible.

It was great to see so many of you at the banquet yesterday.  Thank you for helping us celebrate the season.  A special thanks to Tricia Kennedy for putting together such a great meal and venue for so many people yesterday.  Our options for a group so large do get limited.  It could not have been better.

CONGRATULATIONS TO
